Hello and Testimony Stuff
Dear Josh, Becky, Thao,

God has been speaking to me numerous times about the importance of 9/11 as a day and beginning of intense fasting and prayer for revival in our campus and our nation. I’m actually going to begin fasting today and tomorrow, for these next couple days focusing specifically on the 9/11 day of prayer at UCLA and the nation. I wanted to invite you guys to join me J in praying for the nation as well as this prayer meeting at UCLA – for God to raise up many into this day of prayer, into the life devoted to prayer, for the Holy Spirit to be poured out on this prayer meeting, the Spirit of grace and supplication (Zech 12:10).

I believe God will pour out his Spirit over our campus and send the revival we are asking for if we raise up the unceasing, fervent,
believing cries of prayer and fasting that God Himself has invited us to.

I don’t usually do this, but a few nights ago I had a sudden thought to ask God for a word in His written word. I remembered my friend’s mom had asked God for a word of confirmation and just opened up the Bible to a random place. Again, I don’t usually do this because I don’t think this usually works unless God calls you to do it. But after a time of prayer for revival and the outpouring of God’s Spirit over UCLA, I did this feeling moved to do so. I hit Joel 2, only verses 1-23 (I was a little disappointed about barely making it to verse 28 which is the paramount, prophetic promise of God’s Spirit poured out on all flesh in these last days). But I felt that in these verses, God was confirming this fast as His chosen fast and promising to “cause the rain to come down for you” (Read Joel 2:12-23, also Isaiah 58).

Then the next day (or day after) while in class, I began to pray continually for God’s to pour out His Spirit, and for the great
awakening, the revival at UCLA. And suddenly I felt moved to switch my cell phone to my other pocket, to balance out my pockets. Before I reached for my phone I felt that the suddenness of my awareness and decision to switch my phone to the other pocket was a God thing, and I was sure that God was going to use the time to speak to me (He’s been speaking to me through the time lately, using the time to refer to verses.). And I pulled out my phone and the time was 2:17. In my spirit I knew it was Acts 2:17:

And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,
Your old men shall dream dreams.

I felt that God was encouraging me and us to offer up unceasing, fervent, believing prayers for the outpouring of His Spirit, for
revival fire to sweep across the UCLA campus. So I believe this 40 day fast that God has sent Thao to initiate, and the 9/11 day of prayer, will be critical in shifting things in the spirit and bringing down God’s Spirit, revival in UCLA.

Prayer and Fasting: focuses (not comprehensive, just ideas)

Personal Revival

+ The Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Jesus (pray
Eph 1:17-19)

+ To be a person of one thing, a lover of Jesus (Psalm 27:4, Luke 10:42)

+ To be led and empowered by the Spirit in prayer, not praying by our
own might or power but by His Spirit alone

+ Asking the Lord to give us His heart, His burden for revival, for
lost souls (read Matthew 9:35-38)

+ To be filled with and walk in the fullness of His Spirit – of power,
love, and sound mind (read Luke 11:1-13)

+ Rending our hearts to Him, utter consecration/abandonment and
preparation to be “sent out” at UCLA

Outpouring of God’s Spirit unto Campus-wide Revival

+ The fulfillment of Acts 2:17, the outpouring of God’s Spirit unto
campus-wide revival – the spirit of prayer, prophecy, repentance

+ Great awakening in the church to love and search for the truth and
to the reality of God–encounter and revelation (Eph 1:17-19)

+ Unity in the church, for all members to be united under the Head,
rooted and grounded in love, be empowered to comprehend the love of
Christ (Eph 3:16-19)

+ Great awakening among the lost to love and search for truth and to
realize the need for God

+ For the Lord of the Harvest to send out laborers into His harvest at
UCLA, not only for our team, but many other evangelists to be raised
up (Matt 9:37)

Blessings,
Dave
