What happens in HKU is very exciting.
The 2nd semester had just begun, and next week is a “Gospel Week”, proposed by Kinal (Medic Church, you met him last time, key person of Sasoon Campus (Medic-Nursing) revival) just two months ago. It’s really great! And even more important, many Christian leaders from different groups were able to get together to discuss and pray for this event in the last month, and the spiritual atmosphere was changing rapidly through the process - more and more students began to sense the importance of prayer. In two of the
committee meetings, the worship and prayer time was even longer than
discussion time, I think it’s a major change in the culture of these U
students. We are starting to feel a strong sense of unity in prayer.
Hallelujah!!
We are now starting a 40-days fasting for all the Christians for the long
term revival of HKU. Morning prayer meetings (7:30 - 9:00) were also started today at both HKU campuses. Some 25-30 people came this morning. Actually, last week we had already started a “preparatory” morning prayer meeting for the core leaders, on the average 10 students came everyday, they are already on fire.
Another exciting news is my own class, Civil Engg year 3. In the past 5
years, virtually no one believe in Jesus, and probably some Christians
dropped their faith after entering the U, I guess this is a common trend for
the whole U, especially Engineering - which is a spiritual wasteland, as
described by my student. But in the last semester, I did less but prayed
more, and I asked several Christian students to form a group and prayed
together with me. Up to last week, 8 students in this class believed in
Jesus! And the students in the prayer group were all revived, they didn’t
just experience God in “spiritual” matters, but also financially and in
their GPA (3 key persons increased by 1.0 - a big bonus which they didn’t
ask for)!
For the future direction of HKU, Kinal and I shared your vision of campus
saturation, actually this had already happened, more or less, in the Sasoon
Campus. We are looking towards a long term re-alignment of all the Christian communities, as in the Texas model, and we are now preparing the mind set of the students leaders in the Main Campus towards this direction. So I think your training proposal is excellent and the timing is good! Praise God for His wisdom! Praise the Lord! ![]()
