UCLA Preaching on Campus!

March 17th, 2005

Dear brothers and sisters.

All I can say is… PRAISE THE LORD!

I finished up my last class today at Dodd and was walking to the Shuttles to go home.

So on my way, I had a sudden thought about that preacher that I saw earlier today doing “apostolic insulting” and then I felt the Lord say, “Go preach.”

Of course I was like… no way. That’s just me.

And then I paused and thought: well, okay Lord, if it’s you say something more than that. “I want you to go preach right now.”

I still wasn’t convinced and kept walking. Then I felt kind of bad for testing God. So I just stopped to wonder if that was God or not. Suddenly, I felt the tangible presence of God like a weight, and I knew I had to go.

So I went. Sure enough this guy was still there preaching/insulting people and already had somewhat of a crowd, maybe like 25-30 people. He was arguing with a Jewish student about random Old Testament laws and false prophecy and the like. Finally, I took an opportunity and asked him if I could share a few things. He said okay.

So I introduced myself, told them what Jesus did in my life, urging them to look at Jesus and not all the religiosity and distraction. Then I preached the gospel, short and simple, and called people to give their lives to Jesus for intimacy with God and knowing him as their passion. I also called the believers who wanted to know Jesus Christ as their passion to raise their hands, to get the saints out of the hidden places :)

Well, the arguments pretty much dissolved at this point as they saw that I was just a random guy at UCLA who loved Jesus and wanted them to know him. After the call I made, I had the Christians also raise their hands and invited people to come for prayer, etc. The preacher left after this (praise the Lord again! He used him to get a crowd so that one of his kids could tell ‘em how he is for real)

As I spoke, people were silent. Afterwards, most of the people just left, some believers came up to share with me, but then this one guy named Jason just came up to me and told me he was completely lost and he wanted to come back to the Lord (he had given his life to the Lord once, and said that that was the best time of his life, but then after that he fell away). He wanted to know what he had to do to get connected with God again: “So what do I do now” was his question. (almost sounded like “What must we do to be saved, brethren? haha jk) So we shared a bit (he had class so had to run soon after), traded contact info, and then prayed together. I’m going to call and meet up with him for discipleship.

Anyways, PRAY PRAY PRAY for Jason. satan will try to steal the seed planted in him today, but pray that our God would preserve and speak to him, continually leading him towards Jesus. Tell me what you hear from the Lord too, if you get any prophetic words for Jason. I’m going to call him up tonight or tomorrow.

PRAISE THE LORD! IT IS ALL HIS DOING FOR REAL. HE IS AWESOME AND MIGHTY TO SAVE. THANK YOU JESUS. WE LOVE TO SEE YOUR LOST SONS AND DAUGHTERS RETURN TO YOU, FATHER.
